Court Marriage In Kanpur.To get married under this Act, any person belonging to any religion or nationality must fulfil the following essential conditions-
- The bridegroom must be at least 21 years of age and the bride must be at least 18 years of age at the time of marriage.
- Both the bride and the bridegroom must not have an existing spouse at the time of marriage.
- Both the bride and the bridegroom must be of sound mind i.e. capable of understanding the significance of marriage and the ability to give a voluntary consent to the same.
- Both the bride and the bridegroom must not be relatives of each other in any way.
- Once you’ve established that you satisfy all of the above conditions, you need to present the following documents before the Registrar at the time of marriage-
- Application form, to be submitted to the court, containing true information of the bride and bridegroom.
- Passport size photographs of the bride and the bridegroom
- Residential proof of the bride and the bridegroom
- Date of birth proof of the bride and the bridegroom
- Residential proof and PAN card of the three witnesses who shall be present at the time of marriage
- Death certificate of the previous spouse or divorce decree, whichever is applicable, in case one or both the parties had married previously.
- Affidavit by both the bride and the bridegroom declaring the truthfulness of the statements made by them.
- Proof of conversion, if any of the two parties has converted their religion.
- If one party is a foreign national, then there are certain additional documents that shall be needed by the Registrar:
- Copy of passport of both the parties to marriage along with valid visa
- Proof of stay in India
- Marital Status Certificate from the concerned embassy in India of the foreigner party.

- Proof of Residence as per the specified list of acceptable documents.

- Proof of conversion, if any of the two parties is a convert (certificate from priest).
- Affidavit by both the parties declaring the truthfulness about their aforementioned particulars.
- Affirmation that both parties are not related to each other within the specified prohibited relationships.
- Copy of divorce decree/ death certificate of deceased former spouse, as applicable.
